Not just a room with folding chairs and a coffee pot that has been quietly plotting against humanity since 1987. A real home. Somewhere Baltimore magicians can meet, learn, perform, swap stories, argue lovingly about sleight of hand, and occasionally discover that the trick everyone thought was impossible was, in fact, held together by fishing line and unreasonable confidence.

That is Poe’s Magic Club.

We are Baltimore City’s magic club, built for people who love the art in all its strange, funny, elegant forms. Close-up conjuring. Stage magic. Mentalism. Comedy. Storytelling. Escapes. Bizarre magic. The person with a deck of cards permanently living in their jacket pocket, and the person who is simply curious about how somebody made a coin vanish beneath a salt shaker without summoning a demon or hiring a very small intern.

Our regular meetings are a chance to bring something along, try something out, get useful feedback, learn from one another, and spend time with people who understand why you own more decks of cards than socks. Members will find club news, resources, videos, newsletters, event information, and opportunities to get involved right here on the new site.

But this is not meant to be a dusty private society guarding a secret handshake nobody can remember correctly. Poe’s Magic Club is about making the art bigger, more welcoming, more representative of Baltimore, and more alive. We want new magicians, working professionals, lifelong hobbyists, performers with odd ideas, and anyone willing to take magic seriously without taking themselves too seriously.

There will be workshops. Performances. Guest artists. Club nights. Community projects. There will almost certainly be strong opinions about sponge balls.
